1st September 2010          Jonathan Paul Ashby  15/6/81 - 21/8/10

Hundreds of people attended the funeral service of Jon Ashby today at Cliff College, Carver. The attributes of this amazing man were unfolded in a 3 hour service of music, laughter and tears. We felt priviledged to be there to represent Croft, and to experience the love for such a talented and inspirational guy. He was a close friend to some members of Croft, but especially to our M.D. Andy Booth, Keebles our sound guy, & fellow band mates.  A tragic loss to his wife, family, friends, & community.

22nd August 2010           THE FULL MONTY TRIBUTE  to JON ASHBY

It is with great sadness that I report the awful news of the sudden death early on Saturday morning of Jon Ashby, bass player in the band for The Full Monty, who also played for us at Meadowhall the week prior to the show. Age 28 and about to celebrate his 1st wedding anniversary, our sincere condolenses are sent to his wife, family & friends. His close friends and colleagues in the band, including Richard who stepped in at a moments notice, were incredibly brave and professional to play for the remaining two Saturday performances last night.

It was a remarkable effort by the band, especially to strip for the finale as the curtain was drawn back for their bow at the end, and all credit is due to them. Our total respect & admiration goes to them and Andy Booth (M.D.) for saying "The show must go on"

The following message has been sent by Ray Temple (Life Member & Former Chairman of Croft)  J.B.

"Judy and I, together with many other Croft members, attended Gill's funeral today. The service was very moving and judging by the number of people who attended just shows how popular Gill was; she will always be remembered by those who knew her. Talking to David after the service he asked that we pass on his sincere thanks to those from Croft who attended and for the messages of sympathy he has received from Croft members"   R.Temple

Funeral arrangements for Gill

Friday 16th July 2010 ~ Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium at 10:00 a.m.

3rd July 2010     Gill Hope/ Streeter

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Gill today after a long and brave battle with her illness. Gill was a member of Croft House O.S. & Teachers O.S. for many years. She was a 'playing' member of Croft during our years at the City Hall and is noted for her fine soprano voice. She was also very artistic in designing and painting the sets in the days when we built our own rather than hire as we do today. Gill was one of the founders of the Croft members social club,  and was adept at arranging events, once buying a whole pig to roast at the annual BBQ.  She was wardrobe manager for Teachers, and was still organising the costumes for Beauty & The Beast (Nov 2010) despite her illness. Our thoughts and condolences are sent to David, (her husband & Chairman of STOS) and all her friends and colleagues.
