The President, Miss Judith Silvester, chaired the meeting.
Reports were given by the Chairman & Treasurer, Joan Bennett.
Minutes taken by the Secretary - Shan Bennett
The present Committee/Trustees were re-elected.
Several members were commended for the excellent work they had done during the past year, and praise given for the changes made to benefit the company and its members.
It was agreed by a large majority (only 3 against) that the name of the Society will be changed from Croft House Operatic Society to Croft House Theatre Company as from 1st September 2010.
An excellent buffet was enjoyed by all after the meeting.
The following message has been sent by Ray Temple (Life Member & Former Chairman of Croft) J.B.
"Judy and I, together with many other Croft members, attended Gill's funeral today. The service was very moving and judging by the number of people who attended just shows how popular Gill was; she will always be remembered by those who knew her. Talking to David after the service he asked that we pass on his sincere thanks to those from Croft who attended and for the messages of sympathy he has received from Croft members" R.Temple
'The Lake Isle of Innisfree' by William Butler Yeats
Sally Wragg has just gained a Fellowship in Ballet. This is the highest teaching grade to achieve. She was trained by Croft's President Judith Silvester at The Constance Grant Dance Studio.
She is a Fellow of the I.D.T.A. and teaches at her own dancing school.

Sally is also one of our dancers in our next production of 'The Full Monty' JB

We are just exhausted from laughing too much ...........

Is it just a coincidence that our new home 'The Park Library' was established in 1902 ~ the very same year that Croft House O.S. was formed. The date is carved in stone.

Ed Crann ~ Tiffany Theatre School
Sophie Gillott ~ Phil Winston's Theatre Works
Ellie Hudson ~ Liverpool Theatre School
Emily McAvoy ~ Performance Preparation Acadamy: Guildford
New member Andy Throssell has been on bended knee to Wendy Nutbrown.
Their engagement was announced last weekend. Best wishes from all the Monty Company.

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Gill today after a long and brave battle with her illness. Gill was a member of Croft House O.S. & Teachers O.S. for many years. She was a 'playing' member of Croft during our years at the City Hall and is noted for her fine soprano voice. She was also very artistic in designing and painting the sets in the days when we built our own rather than hire as we do today. Gill was one of the founders of the Croft members social club, and was adept at arranging events, once buying a whole pig to roast at the annual BBQ. She was wardrobe manager for Teachers, and was still organising the costumes for Beauty & The Beast (Nov 2010) despite her illness. Our thoughts and condolences are sent to David, (her husband & Chairman of STOS) and all her friends and colleagues.
Joan Bennett (Chairman CHOS)
Paulette has Denton in the hot seat, but she is the one who ends up needing the fan.
Starts at 2:30 .... enjoy!
Best wishes to Julie Wright who has been offered a place at Edinburgh University.
Julie says ...... "I've had a fantastic time with Croft and am very sad to be leaving so many wonderful people. Thank you for allowing me to be part of Sheffield's best Amateur Theatre Company. I've had a ball"
We all wish Julie well with her new vocation.

Thanks to Louise for organising a superb Dinner Dance at Baldwin's on Friday night. It was great to see so many of the 'Fiddler' cast joining us for the first time. The atmosphere was brilliant and thanks also to Matthew for taking us through all those raffle prizes. On that note I'd like to ask who ate all the yellow tickets!!! I had my eye on the shoe!! Shan Bennett
Some of our principals were asked to the dress rehearsal of the Leeds production of Fiddler last night, in case they needed understudies. Craig Lawton immediately stepped in to play the role of Fyedka tonight, and 2 shows on Saturday, when the guy playing Fyedka was injured and taken to hospital. Well Done Craig ... what a Star ! JB

Steve Norris has been searching our website archives and has found his grandmother. Sarah Oliver was born in 1889 and was a member of Croft House in the early 1900's. Her name appears in the 1915 programme for 'Pirates of Penzance'. Her sister Millicent was also a member. Steve has kindly sent us some photos & a letter from that period.

24 Croft Members were invited to a Buffet Dinner & Civic Reception at the Town Hall, hosted by The Lord Mayor, Councillor Graham Oxley. A pleasant evening was spent with over 100 people from various other 'entertainment' societies in Sheffield, including the Sheffield Youth Orchestra & Sheffield City Brass Band.
